Let's Talk Skincare

Skin is part of the integumentary System…the what?!?

✅ This is your skin, hair, and nails.

Did you know that your skin is the largest organ on your body (and often the most overlooked)? I have always looked after my skin - thanks to my mum for her education but I also suffered with acne as I mention below so I really understand how your skin can affect how you feel let alone how you look.

Your integumentary system regulates your body temperature, clears your body of toxins, alerts you when your hormones are out of balance, it’s the first line of defense against outside threats, and tells you if something deeper in your body is going on. This short list doesn’t even scratch the surface of how much this system does for our bodies.

With everything the Integumentary System does for us, the best thing we can do is love it back and start treating it better.

Before we dive into how to utilize oils and different tools to support your skin from the outside, we need to take a look inside.

The BEST way to support your Integumentary System is with proper hydration and supplementation.

You’ve probably heard “you are what you eat”...and it's actually true. When it comes to cell turnover, what you eat and drink matters.

💚Step 1: Proper Hydration

This means drinking good ol’ water, roughly ½ oz per pound of body weight (e.g. 60 oz of water for a 120-pound person). If you drink a lot of caffeinated drinks, are in the heat, or exercising, add more water to your routine. Proper hydration allows you to sweat properly, clears toxins from your body, and supports your organs and brain. If you are thirsty, chances are you are already dehydrated.

💚Step 2: Good Nutrition

Make sure you are adding good proteins, fats, and whole fruits/vegetables to each meal. These add additional water to your diet, but also essential vitamins and minerals.

💚Step 3: Supplementation

I will always shout LLV (LifeLong Vitality) from the rooftops and for good reason, it is hands down the best all-around supplement on the market. LLV is made up of three different supplements:

MicroPlex VMz - This is a Food Nutrient Complex is a food nutrient formula of bioavailable vitamins and minerals that are often deficient in our modern diets.

xEO Mega - This is a blend of Omega Fatty Acids and Essential Oils to help support joint, cardiovascular, and brain health, and support healthy immune function.

Alpha CRS+ - This proprietary formula combines potent levels of natural botanical extracts that support healthy cell function with important metabolic factors of cellular energy.

Follow these 3 simple steps each day this month and let me know how you feel! Not only will your skin be glowing, but your whole body will feel incredible!

Now let’s talk oils and using these beauties topically on your skin is an amazing way to benefit your skin.
Here are a few of my Skin Favorites:

✅ Frankincense (hello, anti-aging)
✅ Salubelle (Does your skin need a lift? Def a fave of mine - did you know I used to have terribly hyperpigmented skin from acne scarring?  See the pic below!!
✅ Rose (Roll Rose Touch on your face each night)
✅ Tea Tree (all things skin, hair, and nails)
✅ Turmeric (Yup, legit)
✅ Lavender (Soothing, calming, anti-inflammatory)

What are your favorite oils for the skin?

Now all this good stuff is great but we also need to eliminate the bad so what does 168.👀 mean to you?

That’s the number of chemicals that the average woman is exposed to on a daily basis before even leaving her bathroom when she gets ready for the day. (No, she isn’t cleaning it.) 🤯

While not all 168 chemicals are harmful, the components that are lurking in your makeup, perfume, lotions, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets can range from Fragrances, Parabens, and BHT, to Formaldehyde. That can be pretty damn scary.

While not everything in small amounts is detrimental…it's the consistency of small amounts over time that can lead to big health problems later.

Your skin absorbs everything. Not just the lotions, body washes, and perfumes, but the clothing on your body that is washed in super scented soap, and then doused in “fabric softener”, topped off with scent beads, and finished with static cling resistant dryer sheets. And that’s before it even touches your body.

How many things go on your body before you leave the house?
