I would never be able to choose just one oil to take to a desert island but if I could choose a few the AromaTouch blend would be in there. I use this daily on myself but I also use it daily on my dogs and it proves time and time again just how good it is to help support their movement whether it is for the canine athletes or my elderly 2 legged dog.
I absolutely love the clean, fresh and minty aroma (which is also great for repelling fleas and ticks) and I can only imagine that it makes their body feel soothed like it does mine and comforts any niggling bits.
AromaTouch is an important blend in the doTERRA AromaTouch Technique which I love to give a version of to my dogs s part of their weekly massage! The blend combines a unique group of oils to provide relaxing and comforting effects for the whole body combining essential oils of Peppermint, Cypress, Basil, Grapefruit, Marjoram, and Lavender, this blend is just perfect.
Using this oil for massaging your dog whether they are old or young sports dogs can help lessen tension and provide a soothing sensation that definitely helps aid in the effectiveness of any massage experience.
A quote from doTerra founder Dr Hill really sums it up
"I wish that I could have had the AromaTouch essential oil blend back when I was practicing. It is designed to promote feelings of relaxation and to lessen tension. In order to accomplish these goals we need to stimulate blood flow in the tissues and the application of this oil blend through the AromaTouch Technique does an excellent job. It utilizes Cypress, Peppermint, Marjoram, Basil, Grapefruit, and Lavender essential oils in such a way that is truly special and highly beneficial." - Dr. Hill
This oil is applied daily to my 2 legged dog Maz to ease his shoulder that appears to be a residual issue from his original accident on the streets of Afghanistan - Maz absolutely loves his morning application of this blend and I can see what a difference it makes.
My dog Evelyn has it daily too over her lumbar spine and hips- she has significantly bad osteoarthritis and spondylosis and has had stem cell treatment as it was so bad but Aromatouch is still needed for her to before she goes out for a walk as it helps with those residual issues and metacam doesn’t yield any additional improvement so I just love this topical and side effect free option.
I use this as part of our pre -race warm up and for the dogs post race cool down as well as it is so nice to soothe those muscle muscles. The cypress in it is great for supporting circulation and the peppermint undoubtedly peps us all up (as well as repelling ticks) up even on the wettest Manchester day and aids in making sure those joints are comfortable.
It is a combination of some awesome oils
Cypress essential oil has been shown in new research to assist with feelings of anxiousness when experienced aromatically so this is great for any pre-race jitters you or your dogs may have.
Ancient Egyptians used Marjoram primarily for its muscle-soothing properties.
Peppermint essential oil has a high concentration of menthol, which contributes to the cooling and tingling sensation of the AromaTouch blend.
Basil is often used in massage due to the cooling sensation it provides to the skin.
Known for its energizing aroma, Grapefruit uplifts mood.
Sweet and ever-popular, Lavender essential oil has a powdery fresh aroma that is very relaxing. When inhaled or applied topically, it lessens feelings of tension and soothes away feelings of anxiousness and also helps repel any critters.
It is a very powerful blend and anywhere between 1 to 4 drops of Aromatouch in 10mls of fractionated carrier is the dilution to use - more dilute the smaller the dog. Always start low and apply between 1 to 4 times a day depending on need.
