Breakfast is the most essential meal of the day, and a good healthy breakfast really sets you up for the day and replenishes your energy levels from your night time fast. Don’t skip it think it will help weight loss it won’t. If the body doesn’t have nutrients coming in it will conserve what it has and so holds on to the weight.
My basic recipe below and then you can add what ever you like. I have made multiple portions in my kilner jar, it will last several days and just get creamier and more delicious as the days go on.
1/2 cup of oats
1tbsp chia seeds
1tbsp cacao nibs
1 cup oat milk (you can use whatever “milk” you like)
Stir and pop in the fridge
Serve with extra fruit to your taste or a tbsp of peanut butter is also lovely!
I usually find the fruit makes it sweet enough for me but you can add date syrup to taste or another favourite is coconut sugar which gives a lovely caramel flavour and crunchy texture (crunchy if you add just prior to serving).
🍌🍌 Oats are my favourite breakfast and keep me filled up for hours. They are a whole grain and full of soluble fibre, they are great sources of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory phytonutrients and help prevent arterial build up by binding to cholesterol and maintain good arterial function. The soluble fibre forms a gel in the gut which delays stomach emptying and makes you feel fuller for longer.
