Pink Pepper

Pink Pepper was an oil I was accumulating and not using so once I had more than 3 unopened, I kid you not, I thought I better find out all about it! I soon ran out of it once I discovered how awesome it was and needed to re-order pronto.

Pink Pepper has a unique blend of constituents and a chemical profile that bears several health-supporting benefits.  The Pink Peppercorn tree is a fragrant evergreen native to Peru and other parts of  South America and has tiny red or pink berries that are distilled into an essential oil.  doTERRA Pink Pepper is sourced in Kenya and Peru through Co-Impact Sourcing®, which provides economic opportunity and fair pricing to small scale farmers and harvesters.

The Pink Pepper tree (Schinus molle) was considered a sacred tree by the Incas, it is a drought-hardy tree with aromatic berries, bark, and leaves, all of which were used in herbal solutions to support health needs.  Despite its name, Pink Pepper is unrelated to the common spice black pepper (Piper nigrum) and is actually part of the same family as the cashew tree.

Pink Pepper so unique is that it includes a relatively high concentration of alpha-phellandrene, a monoterpene alkene  more infact than any other doTERRA single oil. This makes Pink Pepper one of the best sources for this extraordinary constituent. Limonene, another monoterpene alkene, is also found in Pink Pepper essential oil.  The calming influence you feel when inhaling this oil is due to these , two main chemical components and its pleasantly spicy and fruity aroma is popular in perfumes.

Experimental studies have discovered the remarkable effect alpha-phellandrene can have on a healthy immune response.  Because of this action, alpha-phellandrene is an excellent soothing agent and can be used both internally and topically to promote the body’s natural healing process, ease discomfort and potentially support a healthy inflammatory function.

More research also suggests  several cardiovascular benefits associated with the chemical constituent limonene. Limonene may help in maintaining healthy levels of blood-circulating lipids that are already in the normal range. It may also help limit storage of lipids in the liver, supporting liver health.
Scientists hypothesize that limonene exerts its supportive benefits through affecting the transcription or “processing” of certain genes in the DNA, some of which affect the metabolism of lipids.

To capture all the supportive potential Pink Pepper has to offer, consider adding a few drops to your favorite salad dressing, savory dish, or glass of water - it makes for a lovely glass of refreshing water.

Pink Pepper essential oil can be taken internally to support metabolism, immunity, and digestion, and to support healthy blood sugar and cholesterol levels already in the normal range.*
Emotionally, Pink Pepper is a relaxing oil that is used aromatically to support mood, try this lovely diffuser blend to uplift with its wonderful cleansing aroma.
